Hi, and welcome to my blog!

I’m Kerry, I’m 28 and live in Croydon with my husband Michael.

Currently:

I’ve been working as a staff writer at Laboratory News since October 2009. I spend my days writing science-based news and features for the monthly magazine, as well as interviewing scientists, and reviewing books and coming up with fun stuff to take you away from the scientifically dense everyday life!

I’m also responsible for editing features, sourcing images, and proof-reading – I’m involved in every aspect of the magazine! I help maintain the website and have been involved in the new design launched in October 2011.

I’m also responsible for the magazine’s social media output and tweet and post on Facebook on a regular basis. I write the news for the twice monthly emails, and manage our YouTube and FlickR content. I was also responsible for setting up the Laboratory News blog, and post here regularly.

I also write news quarterly title MedLabNews, covering medical and diagnostic issues. Social media is also a big part of this magazine and  manage Twitter and Facebook here too.

Previously:

Before joining Lab News, I worked for DWPub Media Suite,  a company providing various services for PRs and journalists. I compiled and edited their (then) twice weekly newsletter and blog for journalists, writing news stories and focus interviews. A large part of my role was in maintaining their FeaturesExec Media database maintenance, contacting media outlets and updating their details. I was also instrumental in developing their online jobs board SourceThatJob.

Also:

I’m NCTJ trained, and have undertaken various placements and written freelance for local newspapers and magazines. I’ve done a little bit of freelance work and am always happy to do more.

If you have any comments or suggestions, or if you’ve got anything you’d like me to review or think there’s somewhere I should visit, feel free to email me at kerry_kristine[at]hotmail[dot]com.
