and it all seems to be going rather well. I’ve been doing quite a bit of research into science forums and blogs (if anyone knows any good ones – please let me know), and reading up on all the scientific terms and things I’ve forgotten since I did my degree all those years ago.
I’ve written a few news stories ready for the next email update and quarterly mag, and even got the chance to sub a few features this afternoon – which I particularly enjoyed…all seems to be going well…
I can actually call myself a journalist now! After a really bad day at work last week I thought I’d apply for a new job; by Monday I had two interviews!
The first one was rubbish, but the second was for a staff writer on a b2c science magazine. It went well, but I didn’t expect to hear anything – I never do! Needless to say I was a bit shocked when I got invited back for a second interview.
I thought that went ok, but again didn’t expect to hear anything, especially when I got the “We’ve got a few more people to see but well get back to you” line, but half an hour later they called to say I’d got the job! So now I can call myself a journalist…or rather a staff writer – hurrah!
